If we aren't creating understanding, we don't have a reason to exist.

Creating safe places

Folkway is committed to creating inclusivity and practicing cultural humility so everyone we work alongside feels respected and valued, regardless of background, identity, or ability.

Folkway

/ foʊkˌweɪ /

A folkway is a custom or everyday tradition that guides social interactions. Unwritten rules that promote warmth and respect, which in turn builds strong, lasting connections with those around us.

Words we live by

Respect

We treat the people we work with as people first, not groups to manage or boxes to check. We respect existing knowledge, rights, and relationships, and we never assume we know better.

Listen to Learn

We listen first and ask questions later. We don’t do generic. Every group, project and sector is different, so we only add our knowledge once you’ve shared yours.

Honesty, Even When It's Harder

We tell clients and communities the truth, even when a simpler or more convenient message would be easier to deliver. Integrity means saying what's true, not just what's expected.

Lean by Design

We give organizations exactly the expertise they need, when they need it without the overhead of permanent hires or the bureaucracy of the traditional alternatives.

Impact Over Ego

We measure success by the change we help create, not the credit we take for it. We'd rather see you thrive on your own than build something that only works if we stay involved.

Why Folkway

Folkway exists because people deserve to be treated as partners, not stakeholders to be managed. We believe organizations do their best work and their outcomes last longest when they build real, long-term relationships on honesty and respect. That's the standard we hold ourselves to on every project.

We offer a human-centred alternative to traditional consulting or agencies, providing the right expertise at the right time, on a project basis, so teams can move forward with integrity.
